Time: 9.00am, January 1st 2018.

I expect most of you will still be deep in slumber at this time following a wild New Year's Eve with loved ones. While I definitely saw the new year in with people I love, I can't say it was a particularly wild evening, nor am I now hungover with my head buried beneath several pillows and bad decision . In fact, at this precise moment, I'm sat on the runway of Heathrow Airport ready to go on an epic adventure and preparing for take off on my one way flight to Australia.

The older I get, the more of an urge I feel to see more of the world and while I've been fortunate enough to go on regular family holidays around the UK and Europe, I wanted to venture out further into the world and see more of what's really out there, not just the slightly sheltered Club Med versions we Brits are so used to. So... I'll be starting my journey in (hopefully) sunny Australia and then working my way back towards the UK over time via Asia, The Pacific and maybe a bit of Europe too. Yep, I'm officially one of those "I left my job to travel the world" knobs now!

At the moment my timings are all very loose which is both exciting and brings me out in a stress-induced rash, as my life is typically organised enough to have it's own run of play, but you have to try something new every once in a while. Those that know me well will also know that I'm joint at the hip with my family, so leaving them behind for an unknown amount of time is pretty daunting. Sure, they'll only be a phone call away but by the time I return my now twee sister will be a fully fledged secondary school student, my not so little sister will be going into her final year at law school and my baby sister will be creeping into her stroppy teen years... yikes!

I'm not off with the intention of "finding myself", I have simply reached a stage in my life where most people I know are now married, engaged, having babies, buying houses or doing something really life changing. So, while I'm still young and single, I wanted to embark on a new path knowing that I have no ties and total freedom to just see where the wind takes me (as the expression goes).

The plane is about to take off so I’ll bid you adieu. I might be gone two weeks, I might be gone 2 years... who knows; it's all to play for!

I'll be updating my social media channels and YouTube regularly so stay tuned for the latest, but until then, see you round England.
